The Wind Gourd of Laʻamaomao : The Hawaiian Story of Pākaʻa and Kūapākaʻa, personal attendants of Keawenuiaʻumi Ruling Chief of Hawaii and Descendants of Laʻamaomao
Pākaʻa's ambitious competitors at court have caused the king to wrongfully remove him from his place of honor. The emphasis on the heroic outcome of the challenge to right wrongs is given to adolescent courage against the formidable power and skill of clever but undeserving, sycophantic cheats in government. The heroes overcome their opponents by remarkable skill in the language of riddling, but not without the love of their parents and the practice with training to prepare them for the test of their lives.
