Aloha, I'm Makamae the Hawaiian nēnē gosling.Makamae in Hawaiian means precious, of great value, highly prized.
Nēnē, Hawaiian geese, make soft nests on the ground where two to five eggs are laid between October and March. The eggs hatch about a month later, and the goslings are soon able to walk with their parents to find food. Goslings stay with the family for about a year.
The nēnē Gosling (Branta sandvicensis) is found wild in Hawaiʻi and nowhere else on earth.
Please do your part and drive with caution as nēnē families may be on the road. Please stop for all wildlife, and keep a safe distance at all times.
